• Incident Synopsis: Units were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in a Strip Shopping Mall on Columbia Pike. E410 communicated the primary water supply plan and arrived to report fire showing from a 1 story karate studio, deploying a 2 ½’ handline. BC408 requested a 2nd Alarm and RIT Task Force while responding. E408 deployed a 2nd line to the fire unit backing E410. T410 took a position on Side “C” reporting smoke from multiple units and confirming no basement present. BC408 arrived and established command on side “A”. TL408 positioned side “A” laddered the roof and two crew members assisted with the primary search of the fire unit. Division’s/Groups were quickly established: BC404 “C” Division, BC202 Division 1, BC101 Roof Division and Rescue 402 Vent Group. Command directed multiple units to clear adjoining exposures, and complete primary/secondary searches. 6 exposures reported having smoke conditions present. Units under Division 1 were able to make an aggressive interior attack holding majority of the fire damage to the dispatched location. Extensive roof operations were conducted by units performing trench cuts, extinguishing any visible fire and assisting with ventilation.

• Items of Interest/Significance: Labeling of the exposures created confusion during the initial phases of the incident, understandably with the dynamics of the layout and the amount of smoke present. B1 exposure was determined to have an indoor pool and the D1 exposure was a paint store with a considerable amount of chemicals present. Units Officers must maintain discipline within the dispatched run order and not switch/move positions when not making a critical difference/outcome for the incident. Tag lines should be utilized in a zero visibility IDLH, considering line selections, conditions and layout/size of the structure. No Sprinkler activation
