Set in the remote high desert of California, Sawmill is an off-grid family house designed to withstand extreme conditions. Inspired by the tradition of tents around a fire, the house consists of three wings connected by a central hearth. A large glass wall retracts with a wheel, turning the outdoor patio into the fourth “tent.” Built with durable and reclaimed materials, Sawmill embraces sustainability while minimizing its impact on the fragile desert landscape.
