Khao Khitchakut National Park in Chanthaburi Province, eastern Thailand.
The ascent begins with an exhilarating 8-kilometer ride in a 4WD vehicle up a rugged mountain trail to a midway station. From there, visitors undertake a steep 1.5-kilometer hike to the summit. The trail is well-organized, featuring steps and resting points, and is adorned with rows of bells that pilgrims ring as they ascend. Many carry bags of stone chippings as a form of penance .
At the summit, visitors encounter the iconic "Floating Rock" and the sacred Buddha footprint, a deep groove measuring approximately 2 meters long and 1 meter wide . Pilgrims often tie red sashes inscribed with personal wishes, believing that their prayers will be fulfilled .
Natural Beauty and Wildlife
Khao Khitchakut National Park spans 59 square kilometers of montane forest, forming part of the Soi Dao Mountains within the Cardamom Range. The park's diverse ecosystems support a variety of wildlife, including elephants, gaurs, sambar deer, Indian muntjacs, and serows. Bird enthusiasts can spot species like the coral-billed ground cuckoo and silver oriole .

Access: The site is accessible only during the official pilgrimage season (late January to late March).
Transportation: A 4WD ride to the midway station costs approximately THB 200 round-trip.
Fees: As the site is within a national park, entrance fees apply—THB 200 for foreigners and THB 50 for Thai nationals .
