God chose the foolish things not to make them wise and put the wise to shame. He chooses the weak not to make them strong and thus put the strong to shame. 1 Corinthians 1:26-28 makes it clear that the wise and strong who deny Gospel will be put to shame in the final judgement while the foolish and weak who accept Christ receive eternal salvation because they are chosen. God honours the godly not by preserving them from a pandemic or other sufferings when unbelievers are affected. God honours the poor who are godly not by making them rich. The honour will be revealed at the coming of our Lord Jesus, not in our social or financial situation.
