This most unusual vehicle was built in Quebec, Canada, and marketed as a year-round fun or work vehicle, capable of travel on snow, slush, marshlands, or dry land. Built for recreational fun or professions like fisherman, hunters, woodmen, prospectors, or utility linemen.
No front skis. Instead, two 10" rubber, self-adjusting tracks perform dual duty to both locomote and turn the vehicle. Turn the handlebar and one of two track clutches disengages. So effective, the Caribou will turn on its own axis!
Powered by a 295cc Kohler engine, it will go forward or in reverse, courtesy of a reverse mechanism in the chain case.
They were only manufactured for a couple of years and are a rare item in any collection or museum.
This unit is from a climate-controlled museum. The engine was running when it arrived in the museum but will need work to run again.
