Bholanath (Shashi Kapoor), the long-lost son of a police officer, is raised by a veteran thief, Mr. John (David Abraham). Bholanath carries out petty robberies along with his female accomplice and ex-girlfriend, Sharmili (Zeenat Aman). While carrying out a heist, the duo stumbles upon an unpublished manuscript for a book titled, 'Chori Mera Kaam', a how-to-do-it guide on stealing. They sell the manuscript to a shady publisher and it ends up becoming a nationwide bestseller. Soon the book becomes and escape guide for criminals. The success of the book and the rise in criminal activities attract the attention of the police, the local mob, and the writer of the book himself. Watch the comedy brew as Bholanath and Sharmili try to find their way out of the hole they dig for themselves.
