The title of this work can be interpreted in a few ways. The German word ‘Weltschmerz’ refers to the ideal of the way one wants the world to be versus its far-from-ideal reality. It can also simply mean the suffering/pain of the world. I’ll leave it up to you to decide which interpretation speaks more clearly in your mind.
