Woodturning a Snakeskin Patterned Bowl

Woodturning a segmented bowl with padauk wood and a honeycomb aluminum feature ring. This piece was an incredible amount of fun to make. I love the striking color of the padauk. ( if only it would stay that way forever….) the aluminum honeycomb material made for an amazing feature ring. It reminds me of a reptile scale pattern. Almost looks like an old cowboy hat with a rattle snake skin decoration. The Redrum Ultrashift pigment from EyeCandy pigments turned out great and goes perfectly with the orange red color of the padauk. As always, the super clear deep pour epoxy resin worked flawlessly with zero air bubbles in the piece. I tried a new finishing application technique for the first time by attempting to use an air brush to spray the clean armor 700 uv finish. It did not work well. The air brush spray is just too fine of a mist. I will be trying a detail spray gun in the future and see how that goes. I’ll stick to the foam brush for now.
