Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the Jalna-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express connecting the Marathwada city of Jalna with Maharashtra’s capital.
The train, flagged off by Modi virtually during a function in Ayodhya, started its inaugural run from Jalna, around 400 km from Mumbai, at 12.15pm, and reached the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) here at 6.55 pm.
It was among the six Vande Bharat Express trains flagged off by Modi.
While deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis travelled by the train from Jalna to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde received it at CSMT in Mumbai in the evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Shinde demanded that there should be a train between Mumbai and Ayodhya.
The railways has undertaken projects worth Rs 1.7 lakh crore in the state and they will be completed in a time-bound manner, he said.
Speaking on board the train, Fadnavis said this was an important moment for Maharashtra’s Marathwada region.
The Jalna-Mumbai train is Maharashtra’s seventh Vande Bharat service, six of which are operated on the Central Railway network. It is the fifth Vande Bharat service to run from Mumbai, as per a CR release.
Regular services of the train will commence from CSMT Mumbai from January 1, and from Jalna from January 2, the release said.
The 20705/20706 Jalna - Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express is India's 38th Vande Bharat Express train, running across the state of Maharashtra, which will start from Jalna and will terminate at Mumbai CSMT in India. This will be the fourth express train towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
This express train was inaugurated on 30 December 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing from Ayodhya Dham Junction.
This train is operated by Indian Railways, connecting Jalna, Aurangabad, Manmad Jn, Nasik Road, Kalyan Jn, Thane, Dadar Ctrl and Mumbai CSMT. It is currently operated with train numbers 20705/20706 on 6 days a week basis.
It is the thirty-sixth 2nd Generation and twenty-third Mini Vande Bharat 2.0 Express train which was designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory at Perambur, Chennai under the Make in India Initiative.
The 20705/20706 Jalna - Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express has currently 7 AC Chair Car and 1 Executive Chair Car coaches.
The 20705/20706 Jalna - Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express currently operates 6 days a week, covering a distance of 435 km (270 mi) in a travel time of 06hrs 50mins with average speed of 63 km/h. The Maximum Permissible Speed (MPS) will be confirmed after commercial run.
India got its first Amrit Bharat trains on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two of them after inaugurating the revamped railway station in Ayodhya.
The PM also flagged off six new Vande Bharat trains during the event. Besides these, PM Modi is also inaugurating the newly built airport in the temple town and laying foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 15,700 crore for Uttar Pradesh, including projects worth Rs 11,100 crore for Ayodhya.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off a new category of superfast passenger trains in the country — the Amrit Bharat Express. The train is an LHB push pull train with non air-conditioned coaches. This train has locos at both ends for better acceleration. It provides improved facilities for passengers, like re-designed seats, better luggage racks, mobile charging ports, LED lights, CCTV, and public information system, among others.
The two new Amrit Bharat trains flagged off will run from Darbhanga to Anand Vihar via Ayodhya, and Malda town to Bengaluru.
PM Modi also flagged off six new Vande Bharat Trains. These will be running from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi ; Amritsar to Delhi ; Coimbatore to Bangalore Cantt ; Mangalore to Madgaon ; Jalna to Mumbai ; and Ayodhya to Anand Vihar.
