A1) Name the type of this lamp: Halogen light bulb.
Halogen bulbs are a type of incandescent light bulb- meaning they produce light by heating a filament (usually tungsten) until it glows. However, they differ from regular incandescent bulbs because they contain a halogen gas (such as iodine or bromine) inside the glass envelope.


A2) Its advantages:
1. Intense brightness and whiteness (higher luminance).
2. Adjustable illumination
3. Others (generally speaking, in ophthalmic devices);-
Greater blue portion of the spectrum to get a greater scattering and fluorescence of transparent media.
A bright red- free light in the presence of green filters (red- free filters), which is useful for observation of the nerve fiber layer for defects as in early glaucoma, and enhancement of the contrast of the blood vessels against the retinal background.

N.B:-
Disadvantages:
1. Generate a lot of heat- can get very hot to touch.
2. Energy inefficient compared to LED (Light emitting diode)
3. Shorter lifespan than modern LEDs
