Nicola Puddicombe, guilty in murder of boyfriend, seeks early parole

A jury of 12 people was told Thursday they are not needed for a trial because Nicola Puddicombe has already been found guilty of first-degree murder. Instead, they have been asked to decide if she can apply for early parole or continue to serve her sentence until May 2032, when she is eligible to apply for parole.
Sixteen years ago, Nicola Puddicombe was found guilty of the 2006 murder of Dennis Hoy, her boyfriend of 11 years, who was bludgeoned to death with an axe while he slept in Puddicombe bed.
She made the 911 call but told police she was in the shower at the time.
