Las Leñas is a ski resort in Argentina that takes a bit more effort to travel to than many major ski resorts in South America. So if you're considering spending the time and money to ski or snowboard there, what can you expect?
The mountain layout can be divided into four segments: (1) the left of the trail map, (2) the center, (3) the right, and (4) the top of the trail map. The left side of the trail map is best suited for beginner skiers and snowboarders. It is the flattest part of the mountain, with two chairlifts and one button lift. The center of the trail map has mainly intermediate to advanced intermediate terrain, with two chairlifts and a few button lifts. The right side of the trail map contains mainly advanced to expert terrain, with one chairlift and one button lift And the top of the trail map, which unfortunately, is often closed due to weather conditions, contains more advanced, extreme "hors piste" type terrain, along with a few intermediate slopes. If includes one chairlift and one button lift. When it is open, you may need to have a shovel and probe in order to access most of the terrain.
In this video, we'll explore the terrain to give you a sense of what to expect, which may help you decide whether you want to travel all the way to Las Leñas. In my book, it's worth it!
