The Gang-Gang Cockatoo (Callocephalon fimbriatum) is a charming and distinctive parrot native to the cool forests of southeastern Australia. Males are easily recognized by their bright red heads and wispy crests, which contrast beautifully with their soft grey plumage. Females, on the other hand, display elegant shades of grey with subtle yellow-orange barring on their underparts.
These cockatoos are known for their gentle, creaky “door-hinge” calls and playful personalities. They often travel in pairs or small family groups, feeding on seeds, berries, and eucalyptus fruits. During winter, they can sometimes be seen visiting urban gardens, especially in Canberra and nearby regions.
Symbolic and beloved, the Gang-Gang Cockatoo is also the official bird emblem of the Australian Capital Territory, representing the quiet beauty of the Australian bush. 👉 Don’t forget to LIKE 👍, COMMENT 💬, and SUBSCRIBE 🔔.
