Welcome to this hands-on 5-week video series on running Docker containers on AWS ECS Fargate using Terraform and GitHub Actions! 🎯

In this series, we’ll take a simple Python application, containerize it with Docker, and deploy it to AWS ECS Fargate — Amazon’s serverless container service. We’ll start by deploying the infrastructure manually, and then fully automate the process using CI/CD with GitHub Actions.

By the end of this series, you’ll have a fully working CI/CD pipeline that builds, pushes, and deploys your app to ECS Fargate — all using Infrastructure as Code.

🎯 Why ECS over Lambda?
While AWS Lambda is great for quick, event-driven functions, ECS Fargate provides more flexibility for running containerized applications, jobs that exceed 15 minutes, or apps with custom runtimes and dependencies. Fargate also offers improved isolation and resource tuning without server management.

🔍 Weekly Breakdown:
Week 1: Introduction with a general presentation on what we will build, tools used, architecture overview, and why ECS Fargate is chosen.
Week 2: Create and structure the GitHub repository. Set up initial project scaffolding and prepare for infrastructure code.
Week 3: Deep dive into Dockerfile and Terraform code. Explain how each component (ECR, ECS, Task, IAM, etc.) fits into the deployment.
Week 4: Manually deploy the infrastructure to your AWS account using Terraform and push the Docker image to ECR.
Week 5: Set up GitHub Actions to automate Docker builds and deploy everything using a CI/CD pipeline.
