The Mid Devon Show 2019

Crowds flocked to a Mid Devon Show in the sunshine this weekend in record numbers.
The annual event – now in its 26th year – at Knightshayes Estate on Saturday, July 27, showcase the best livestock, talent, produce, crafts, stalls and businesses from across the region.
Organiser Colin Nation said: “We’ve had perfect weather and if we’re honest we’ve probably been a bit overwhelmed by the visitors today. Normally we’d have between 12,000 and 15,000, but we estimate today we’ve had more than 20,000. We have been caught by surprise, but I know everyone is walking around with a nice smile on their face, and I apologise to those who took a little bit of time to get into the show, but we hope they enjoyed it once they were in.
“Having so many people here is a good thing, but we need to be able to plan for that sort of thing. We’re over the moon that the show has been so popular this year, but we need to make sure we learn a lesson from the number of people we have attracted this year. We need to react to that next year.
“It’s a brilliant day though, we’ve had so many people come up and congratulate us. The new dog show has been a hit; the music fest has been a great success; the main ring entertainment and the Devil’s Horsemen have been superb. I’m glad what’s happening in the showground has been a great success.”
Assistant show organiser, Jasmine Hussey added: “The organisation is immense. The number of things we do is extraordinary for a one-day show, but we do it because we love it so much. Today has been amazing, we’ve had so many people through the gates. I think our visitor numbers have soared; it’s been fantastic.
“I think the highlights for me have been the Devil’s Horsemen, they were amazing, the tricks they were doing were out of this world, and of course, seeing everyone happy and walking around. We work so hard to put this on, so to see everyone enjoying it is brilliant.”
The Devil’s Horsemen were the main ring’s headlining act, wowing a crowd with their daredevil stunts and giving a glimpse into how they train horses for shows such as Game of Thrones.
