As survivors we want the world to better understand all aspects of domestic abuse and the reality for children. 1 in 5 Children are subjected to domestic abuse in their lifetime yet it is too often minimised, diminished or missed..
Yet the impacts can last a lifetime!
Children are finally recognised as victims in their own right due to the Domestic abuse Act 2021 in England and Wales . We have so much more we need to do in firstly recognising it as abuse, to remove the taboo and open the vital conversations.
We MUST break the cycle and invest in prevention as well as support that is individual to each child.
