Yes—you can use your VA loan more than once. Not just in Alaska, but anywhere in the U.S.
But here’s the catch most people miss: you can’t use it to buy the same type of home again unless you sell the first one.
So if you’re living in a 3-bed, 2-bath and want to buy another 3-bed, 2-bath? You’ll need to sell the first property or it won’t fly.
That said, if you’re upgrading—like going from a condo to a single-family because your family is growing—you’re good. Just make sure you’ve lived in the original property for at least one year before buying the next.
You can also play it smart with a multi-family. Start with a 4-plex, live in one unit, rent the others. A year later, move into a single-family home and now you’ve got four rentals cash-flowing behind you.
It’s all about strategy. The VA loan is one of the best tools out there—if you know how to use it.
