“ON SPOTLIGHT” of DANCE XCHANGE ON AIR

SAMBIT is a school-based theater organization that hones learners’ raw talents for sustained school and community youth development. The group won 4th and 2nd runners up in the PASUC National Culture and Arts Festival for folk and indigenous dance categories, respectively in 2014 and 2015, and received The Outstanding Student Councils and Organizations (TOSCO) award in 2019 from Gimenez Foundation, Inc. for its entry PAGSALINGOY 2019: KANTA Calabanga.
“Karatong” The dance features snippets of folk merriment, display of skills, and inherent effervescent Filipino spirit and agility in Binasuan and Karatong. Both dances highlight festive feels – while the former exudes fun in the skillful use of drinking glass with rice wine, the latter amplifies creativity with the use of bamboo and colorful bunga manga – a testament of how movements resemble resiliency and vibrancy of the Philippine culture and the arts.
