Example of patient with facial myokymia, a disorder of the seventh nerve, probably due to brain stem involvement. Patient has multiple sclerosis. Discussion of characteristics, such as continuous, undulating, contractions in the distribution of the seventh nerve, and a spreading of these movements to other areas of the seventh nerve, rather than remaining local to the eye area alone. Discussion of possible causes, such as intrinsic lesions of the brain stem, multiple sclerosis, and tumor. Discussion of technique for bringing out shadows of the associated fasciculations.
