The branchlines to Tumut and Kunama left the main southern line at Cootamundra. Just beyond Gundagai the line crossed the Murrumbidgee River by means of a 925 metre long bridge,
When this film was shot the line to Kunama, which left the Tumut line at Gilmore Junction was truncated back to Batlow.
The line was built to service orchards in the district.
Unlike most lines it never had a dedicated passenger service, passengers riding in the guards van.
Services on the Gilmore Junction to Batlow branch were suspended in 1983 whilst that to Tumut did not last much longer due to flooding in 1984.
The lines never reopened.
