BASED loosely on some experiences endured by British filmmaker artist Imran Perretta, ‘Ish, is also centred friendship and family and defying expectations – after two boys are stopped and searched by the police in their home town of Luton.
Perretta tells www.asianculturevulture.com’s Tatiana Rosenstein that his desire to make a film was prompted by his own experiences.
Set in the Hertfordshire town, just outside London, the town is home to many diverse communities and Perretta knows well through his wife's family.
Perretta discusses the trauma of the boys after such an incident and the repercussions it has on their family and wider friendship groups.
