Amazing Views, Goats, & Pigs: HUGE day on Te Araroa Queen Charlotte Track | Backpacking New Zealand

Day 83: a very long day and well over 20 miles from Mistletoe Bay Eco Campground to Camp Bay Campsite. I chose to go this further distance to have a shorter day tomorrow, when heavy rain was coming in and I had to pass the washout to get to Furneaux Lodge.

The views were absolutely breathtaking the whole day. That ridge walk has views on ALL SIDES. It's worth doing this stretch as a shorter day if you can, just to be able to sit on those picnic tables and benches and soak it up for longer. All the campsites along the way had special views, but they do sometimes run out of water during the end of summer. Thankfully, it had rained the week before I got there and filled the sources back up. Keep on eye on that later in the hiking season. They will normally put notices on the DOC Queen Charlotte Track websites.
