How Did Gutter Guards Perform after 1 Year? Debris and Water Test Results, South Side Gutters [2024]

We're removing the gutter guards that have been participating in the 2024 Ultimate Gutter Guards Challenge on the south side of the garage. We will show you the debris that we removed from the tops of the gutter covers as well as debris that accumulated inside the gutter guards over the course of the 1-year testing period.

At the conclusion of each segment, we have included a graphic that shows the final results for each gutter guard. This will be an easy way for you to see how each system did in the tests for both its ability to shed leaves and collect water -- two critical metrics when determining the best gutter guards for your home.

Gutter guards featured on the south side of the garage include Valor (under shingles installation method), Cheese Grater, HydroFlo; the open gutter that collected plenty of leaves and debris in its cavity throughout the year, RainDrop, and Solid Gutter Cover that is available as a do-it-yourself option from big box retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe's.
