The Ibanez TS10 Tube Screamer is a classic overdrive pedal produced by Ibanez from 1986 to 1993 as part of their "Power Series." It is a variation of the famous Tube Screamer circuit and is known for its warm, mid-boosted overdrive sound.
Famously used by artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Mayer, the TS10 has gained a reputation as a "sleeper" pedal, as it's not as well-known as the TS808 or TS9, but is highly sought after by those who appreciate its unique tonal characteristics.
The fundamental circuit of both pedals is nearly identical. However, the TS10 includes a slight modification: a 220Ω resistor added in series with the op-amp's inverting input. This minor change is believed by some to contribute to the TS10's slightly "softer" clipping and a more pronounced midrange.
In this video, we modify a Mini-TS9 and add a 220Ω resistor, then analyze the pedal's performance analytically in both the time and frequency domains, as well as conduct a more subjective tone test.
