My 2015 Ram 1500 5.7 started making a ticking noise every time I turned it on. After about 20 seconds, it would stop. It turned out that one of the bolts that held the exhaust manifold was broken clean on the engine block.
This method should work on any make and model. This bolt was deep in there. I didn’t have an extractor kit, and I didn’t really feel like going to an auto parts store to buy one.
All you need is a drill and a drill bit.
It’s 2 easy steps. Anyone can do it. This will save you money !
Step 1: Drill directly through the center of the bolt at least 1/2”
Step 2: Tilt the drill bit and put the drill in reverse
Boom ! done .
Take your time, drill through the bolt as close to the center as possible, and make sure the drill bit is thick enough (should be at least half of bolt diameter).
