This is Anusha Adhikari, who will be a 9th grader this fall! Excited to represent the Nepalese culture, she wears a traditional Sharpa dress. The dress represents the Sherpa women of the Himalayan region of Nepal. Chhuba is worn over raatuk, a blouse (traditionally made out of pure white raw silk), trousers called kanam, and an outer jacket called tetung. Women also wear long-sleeved floor-length dresses of thick wool called tongkok.
This is Aanavi. She will be a sophomore, starting at North West Waukee high school this fall. She is wearing a Tamang dress, which includes lungi, patuka, cholo. Tamang women wear traditional jewellery like dhungri and muga ko mala.
This is sierra pradhan and she will be a junior this fall at Northwest high school. She is wearing a Newari Dress called Haku Patasi. It is worn by Newari women living all around Kathmandu Valley. Haku Patasi is an iconic cultural dress to show off their rich heritage and is typically worn on formal occasions such as weddings and other ceremonies. Sierra is carrying a mirror, used for rituals, and a Sinhamu, a handcrafted silver sindoor box. They both symbolize prosperity and good fortune in the Newar society.

Introducing a mesmerizing ensemble that represents the essence of Nepali culture. She wears the 'Gunyou Cholo,' a traditional handwoven dress made of Dhaka fabric, known for its unique patterns. Accompanying her attire are Nepali gold jewelry, notably the 'Nau gedi tilhari' necklace with nine beads, significant for married Hindu women. Completing the ensemble is a traditional copper water vessel called 'Gagri/Ghalcha,' used for water storage and Hindu worship. This captivating portrayal embodies Nepal's rich heritage.
