Rigging the Sony FX3 for run-and-gun
For run-and-gun situations, the Sony FX3 should be rigged as light, compact, and functional as possible. Use the top handle for better stability and quick control over sound. Attach a small, reliable microphone (e.g. shotgun mic or low wind-sensitive on-camera mic) and attach a short, flexible HDMI cable if you are using an external monitor. Choose a small cage or just cold-shoe extensions to attach accessories without adding unnecessary weight. Use a light, stable zoom lens with good autofocus (24–70mm or 24–105mm) to cover most situations quickly. Have extra batteries and a quick release on the camera so it can be moved between tripod and handheld in seconds. Keep the rig minimal to move quickly and avoid attracting attention.
