Many amateur mathematicians get frustrated that they are unable to publish their investigations -- it seems sometimes that the research community is indifferent to their efforts. What is to be done? Here is some down to earth advice for people wanting to adopt a realistic, but still optimistic, attitude towards getting your ideas across to like minded people.
