After carrying their own fuel to complete an 800km section of track across Western Australia, day 4 sees the boys venture into the sandy scrub of Central Australia to a remote border crossing "the sandy blight" and are pushing to get to Alice Springs to fit new tyres.
It's two-steps forward, one step back as their pace is slowed by punctures.
