Hi there, Ford owners. Today, your 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 air helper springs. And this is what our airbags looks like when they're installed. Your airbag's going take the place of your jounce bumper. The jounce bumper used to sit between the frame and the axle of your vehicle, so when your suspension would come down, before it would bottom out and cause any metal to metal contact, that jounce bumper would take up that space. The jounce bumper really doesn't do much else beyond that, though.

It doesn't really provide you any support, unless you're just loaded up to the max like that. With our airbag here, you can see it fits in between these two places, and we can adjust the pressure inside the bag. So that way we can get assist from our airbag under a lot of different situations in varying roads. We no longer need to be loaded all the way down for the component that was here to do anything. So this is gonna work with our suspension system, to help restore lost handling and braking performance due to lower ride height.

We can bring our ride height back up, but that's also gonna put our headlights back down on the road for us. And this is also just gonna help smooth out your ride, when you've got heavy weight in the vehicle. Oftentimes you've got heavy weight lowering down the back, when you hit a bump, it's either very stiff when you hit it, cause you're hitting that jounce bumper, which doesn't really do a lot for you, or it's kind of bouncy because of all that weight that's in the back. By adding this in here, we can help stabilize all that and also minimize sway while we're at it, because if we stiffen these up on each side, when the vehicle wants to rock left or right, his bag is pushing back on it, helping, keeping our vehicle upright. Now these bags aren't designed to increase the load that you can carry on your truck.

They're just designed to help assist, and to carrying some of the weight that you might have here in your vehicle. They offer their support throughout their pressure range, ranging from five PSI, that's your typical unloaded measurement. You do want to make sure that you always have some air in them, we never want them completely empty, up to 100 PSI for your heaviest loads. And these are designed to work with up to 5,000 pounds for an assist for your vehicle. And you do want to keep that in mind though, that it doesn't increase your capacity.

So you never want to overload your vehicle, so make sure you verify in your vehicle's owners' manual before you do any kind of hauling. Now, before we install our airbags, we want to get a baseline of how our truck currently rides and its current ride height with it unloaded, versus being loaded. So currently we're unloaded. We're gonna get a measurement here of our ride height. And from the ground to our fender, well here it's about 43 inches. We're also gonna check this in the front. And then here at the front, we're right at about 41 inches. So now we're gonna go ahead and load this up with about 1,000 pounds of water weight. And then we're gonna reset our measurement, see where we're at, and then hit the test course. And we've dropped down about two, maybe about two and 1/4 inches here in the back. And here at the front, we've actually raised up by about 1/2 inch. So what this is gonna do is, we've now changed the geometry of our suspension. We're lifting up on the front, that changes the way our tires are angled. That means we're going to lose some handling and braking performance because we don't have as good a contact with the road, with our tires, as we did before, when we we're unloaded. We're gonna wear our tires prematurely because of that. We also now have our headlights pointed up towards the sky, with the weight there loading us down, so at night-time, we're gonna have reduced visibility. So let's go ahead and hit the test course here and just see how it feels with this weight. Once we get our airbags on, we can hopefully correct all these issues that we've got here, to help restore all that handling and braking performance that we're losing and get those headlights back down on the road.
