Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has closed the book on the Vinícius Jr saga. The Brazilian forward will face no punishment after his fiery reaction to being substituted in Sunday’s 2-1 El Clasico win over Barcelona.
Vinícius apologised to fans, teammates, the club, and president, citing his ‘passion’ and ‘competitive nature’ for the outburst. He’s back in training and ready to help Madrid maintain their five-point lead at the top of La Liga.
But it’s not all smooth sailing. Madrid face a few injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s clash with struggling Valencia. Captain Dani Carvajal is set for knee surgery, Antonio Rüdiger remains sidelined with a long-term muscle injury, and David Alaba is doubtful with a calf issue. On the brighter side, Dean Huijsen, Dani Ceballos, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are nearing full fitness and could feature soon.
After the Valencia match, all eyes turn to Europe, with Madrid travelling to Liverpool in a Champions League showdown. Despite the setbacks, Alonso’s side looks determined to build on their El Clasico triumph and stay on top in Spain.
