The death of a loved one is difficult for anyone. Children and teens often need guidance when coping with their grief. Depending on their developmental stage, they might have difficulty understanding what "death" means and how it impacts their lives. For this video, Thomas Matthews, MD, child and adolescent psychiatrist at Clarity Child Guidance Center, addresses the following: changes in family dynamic, different family styles for dealing with loss, what kids understand about death at different ages, and how you can help kids cope with loss. This 3-part series was recorded at a community presentation on November 12, 2010.
