⛪ History of the Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health – Velankanni:
The origins of this shrine trace back to the 16th century, rooted in a series of miraculous Marian apparitions in the small coastal village of Velankanni:

The Milk Boy Miracle (Tank Church) – A young Hindu boy delivering milk to a man had a vision of Mary and the Child Jesus by a water tank. Mary asked for milk for her Son. When the boy reached the man's house, the pot was still full — a miracle.

The Crippled Buttermilk Vendor (Naduthittu Church) – A lame boy selling buttermilk had a vision of the Blessed Mother. He was instantly healed and became a proclaimer of the miracle.

The Portuguese Ship Rescue – A Portuguese vessel caught in a storm at sea prayed to Our Lady. The crew vowed to build a church in her honor if saved. Upon surviving, they built the first structure at the site in Velankanni.

The present-day Gothic-style Basilica was later expanded and elevated to a Minor Basilica by Pope John XXIII in 1962.
