There's an Igbo adage (I think) that, when translated, goes like this: "To kill or take a man's god from him, you must first kill him." Every one of us has learned to trust in something or someone. Sometimes, pulling down these idols we've created can be tricky because they don’t always appear as idols.
But God has given us a way out of idolatry—it’s through death to self. This is a ruthless path of self-denial and trust. Only those who have yielded to this journey truly know the peace and providence of "all things work together for good."
