Kapondo meaning (thieves)
Jesus was crucified between two thieves, with one taunting him and the other repenting and asking for forgiveness. The names "Dismas" (the good thief) and "Gestas" (the impenitent thief) are mentioned in later, non-canonical texts like the Gospel of Nicodemus, but are not found in the biblical Gospels. The Gospel of Luke provides the most detail, describing the penitent thief asking Jesus to remember him in his kingdom, and Jesus responding, "today you will be with me in Paradise!
