新緑の奥入瀬渓流

十和田八幡平国立公園の景勝地・奥入瀬渓流。
両岸に迫る断崖や樹林をかき分け、滝や清流となりながら、十和田湖畔から14km続きます

「住まば日本（ひのもと）遊ばば十和田　歩きゃ奥入瀬三里半」（大町桂月）と歌われたように14kmのハイキングがお勧めですが・・・万人には向きませんね。
渓流沿いには、車道と遊歩道が整備されており、どなたでも散策しやすいのが魅力のひとつ。
車を降りてから森の奥深くに入ることなく、人と同じ目線で清流や滝を感じることができます。

奥入瀬へ通い出したのはかれこれ40年前。
その間、台風や大水害に何度も見舞われました。
その都度小さな滝が出現したり、流れるコースが変化したりと、
多少の変化はあったものの、今なお自然が守られ、
変わらず多くの人々を受け入れてくれる開かれた森。訪れる人たちをいつでも歓迎してくれます。

今回、久しぶりに訪れたのは6月の初め、
車中泊をしながらの二泊三日の撮影旅。
風のない穏やかな三日間でした。

渓流は周辺の山々からの残雪の雪どけ水で、水量が豊富な時期。
木々は、日に日に新緑から深緑へと季節が移り変わる頃、
水辺にはピンクのタニウツギの花が渓流に彩りを添えていました。

撮影のほとんどは観光客がいない朝夕の時間帯でしたが、
水量の関係などから日中もカメラを向けました。

渓流沿いは相変わらず観光客で賑わい、あちこちから様々な言語が飛び交っていますが
じっと渓流や滝の音に耳を澄ませていると、
その賑やかさが嘘の様にかき消され、自身が緑に染められ、
自然と一体になる感覚を味わうことができ、心を洗われるような不思議な気持ちになりました。

長い年月をかけて自然の力で形成された流れ、
人の手では造り出せない造形美に、神聖なる自然の力を
ほんの少し感じとることができたのかもしれません。

Oirase Gorge

Oirase Gorge is a scenic spot in Towada-Hachimantai National Park.

The Oirase Gorge stretches 14km from Lake Towada, weaving its way through cliffs and forests on both sides, transforming into waterfalls and pure streams.

As the song "Live in Japan, play in Towada, walk the three and a half miles of Oirase" (by Omachi Keigetsu) suggests, the 14km hike is recommended, but it's not for everyone.

One of the attractions of the stream is the paved road and footpaths, making it easy for anyone to explore.

You can experience the clear stream and waterfalls at eye level without having to leave your car and venture deep into the forest.

I started visiting Oirase about 40 years ago.

During that time, it has been hit by many typhoons and major floods.

Although there have been some changes, such as the appearance of small waterfalls and changes in the flowing course,
it remains an open forest where nature is still protected,
and where people continue to be welcome. Visitors are always welcome.

This time, I visited for the first time in a while in early June,
for a three-day, two-night photography trip, sleeping in my car.
The three windless, calm days were perfect.

The stream is fed by meltwater from the remaining snow on the surrounding mountains, and is therefore plentiful at this time of year.
The trees are changing from fresh green to deep green with each passing day,
and pink hortensia flowers add color to the stream's surface.

Most of the photos were taken in the mornings and evenings when there are no tourists,
but due to the water level, I also took photos during the day.

The streamside is still bustling with tourists, and various languages ​​are being spoken here and there,
but as I listened intently to the sounds of the stream and waterfall,
the bustle seemed to fade away as if by magic, and I was bathed in green.
I felt a sense of being one with nature, and it was a strange, soul-cleansing experience.

The stream, formed by the forces of nature over eons,
is a form of beauty beyond human reach, perhaps giving us a glimpse of the sacred power of nature.

I hope that viewers will also experience this mysterious feeling.
And I hope that one day you will visit the Oirase Gorge in Michinoku.
