The end of the Second Age. The Last Alliance marches to war. I was there when Sauron fell.

I am Caranthir of the House of Finarfin, and I stood in the fires of Mount Doom when the world should have been saved. I watched Gil-galad's light fade and Elendil's sword shatter. I saw two great kings fall to defeat the Dark Lord. I witnessed Isildur cut the Ring from Sauron's hand, and I stood beside Elrond and Círdan as they begged him to cast it into the fire.

He refused. One word—"No"—and three thousand years of darkness followed.
This is my account of the Last Alliance—not the songs sung in golden halls or the tales told by bards, but the truth as it was lived. The seven-year siege at the gates of Mordor. The desperate battles on the plains of Dagorlad. The moment when victory turned to ash because a grieving man could not let go of a golden ring.

Join me as we return to that terrible war, when Elves and Men stood together against the Shadow, when kings fell and heroes rose, and when one choice at the edge of Mount Doom sealed the fate of Middle-earth for ages to come.
