In this video we had a discussion about CPU Bound Query. I made use of Ostress tool to generate a workload. Most of the wait types are associated with SOS_SCHEDULER_YIELD. To overcome the issue we increased the Virtual Cores. Also we discussed about Parallelism Inhibitors which prevented the execution plan of the CPU Bound query to go for parallelism. The other Performance issue is with DML operation where the wait types are associated with Write Log. At first the query ran for 51 seconds and after fine tuning the log file settings it has come down to 26 seconds and later we performed the transaction in a batch by introducing Begin tran and commit Mode. Also we discussed about Monitoring Azure Managed Instance with SQL Insights and Monitor.
