My chickens are eager partners in my journey to growing my own food. They get the weeds and the wilted or spoiled veggies. In turn the produce compost and nutrient rich mulch. After cleaning out the coop I sprinkle some Saturday Lime and then put about 8” of pine shaving down including the nest boxes. Every couple of weeks I cover the coop with 2” of fresh shavings.
