Gopalaswamy Betta, also known as Gopalswamy Hills, is a popular tourist destination in South India that attracts visitors from all over the world. The hill is located at an altitude of 1454 meters and is known for its beautiful lush green forests, pristine natural beauty, and stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

The hill is named after Lord Krishna, who is also known as Gopala. According to local folklore, Lord Krishna was once passing through this region with his cows and spent a night on top of this hill. Hence the name, Gopalaswamy Betta, which translates to "Hill of Lord Gopala".

Apart from its natural beauty, Gopalaswamy Betta is also known for the ancient Gopalaswamy temple located at its peak. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is believed to have been built in the 14th century. The temple is a must-visit for tourists and devotees alike.

Timing: Access to Himavad Gopalaswamy hill is available from 8.30 AM till 4 PM

Nearby: Bandipur Tiger Reserve & National Park (20 kms) and Nanjanagudu (55 kms) are some of the places to visit along with Himavad Gopalaswamy betta.

How to reach:

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta is 220 kms from Bengaluru and 80 kms from Mysuru. From the foot of the hill, visitors need to take shuttle buses to reach Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta. Private vehicles are not allowed on the hills.
