The Base Print Disaster for Darth Talon – What Went Wrong?

In this update, I share the unexpected challenges I faced while printing the base for my Darth Talon model. The print didn’t just fail—it failed spectacularly! If you’ve ever had a misstep with 3D printing, you know how frustrating it can be. After the initial disappointment, I dug deep to figure out exactly what went wrong, and boy, did I uncover some lessons worth sharing.

First, I thought the cold temperatures in the garage were the primary culprit. The chilliness of the space certainly didn’t help matters, but there was a bigger issue at play. When I upgraded to Chitubox v2.0, I had adjusted my settings for better adhesion—but only for my Anycubic M5s printer. I completely overlooked updating those settings for the M5s Pro. This oversight led to poor adhesion and, ultimately, a failed print. It’s a reminder that even small differences in printer settings can lead to big problems.

Once I identified the problem, I got to work correcting my mistake. I went into Chitubox and made sure all the proper adhesion settings were applied to the M5s Pro. With the settings dialed in, I started a fresh print of the Darth Talon base, and I’m happy to report it’s looking great so far! The difference is night and day when your equipment and software are properly configured.
