Jackie Reses, CEO of Lead Bank, kicked off the day with a warning: the Trump Administration’s moves to slash financial regulations doesn’t mean it’s a Wild West out there.
Like many of the day’s speakers, Reses pointed to stablecoins as the hot sector, especially over the past few weeks. The new “GENIUS Act” legislation to set ground rules for stablecoins, which the U.S. Senate advanced in a procedural vote Tuesday, is a step in the right direction, Reses said. But it still didn’t answer all the questions about what banks were allowed, or required, to do.
