With a little "Diamond Tim" a-clappin' in the upper right corner at the 6 second mark, lol...That's right! I ran across this a year ago and 'bout had a heart-attack, lol. You see, The Porter Wagoner Show was taped live at like 5 A.M.!! in west Nashville on the hill up at Chan. 4 studios. We live about 10 or 15 minutes away, but my step-grandmother Louise, lived like 5 minutes away. I spent the night there & her and I went to the show just for something to do. It was just part of growing up in Nashville during the late 60's & 70's. Porter's show was the early morning show there, although I believe it was syndicated...anyways, I didn't realize how cool that was, well...until now! lol. You take things like that for granted growing up because it was the way Nashville was. It was like eating & breathing. Of course we never saw this because the show was live, and here I sit 46 years later & seeing Louise & I at 5:45 A.M. according to the clock on the wall, watching Dolly sing what would become my all-time favorite Dolly song and who would eventually become a part of Americana as we know it...a household name...an icon. Now to add even more spice to the stew my step-father (Louise's son "Sonny") was a Metro Policeman and would end up being Dolly's bodyguard in the late 70's ( she thanks him in her book Carl Dollarhide is his real name.) I would see Dolly a dozen times during that period which was really cool! Now fast forward again about 15 years to the early 90's and my dog Woody would sing to "Mule Skinner Blues" and I have it on video somewhere...so look for that in the near future. ;-)
