To predict the broad shape of your gear in gear design you need only look at the shape of the design that the large gear (with cutout) makes in the ring. This shape will continue into the gear-in-gear design. The choice of small gear will impact how braided it becomes.
Featurd in this video are parts from the Compact gear set: frame and gears (64, 18, 16)
