Rhythm Check - Trinity Jazz Sax Grade 8 Piece

Hi there! I'm Nathan Hassall - professional saxophonist and sax teacher, based in London, UK.

If working your way through the Trinity College London Jazz Sax Grades, then this piece, "Rhythm Check" by the wonderful saxophonist and educator, Bob Mintzer, is one of my favourite tunes for students to work on and play for their Grade 8 exam. I love it, and really recommend you check it out!

This piece is found in the book "14 Blues and Funk Etudes" by Bob Mintzer, published by Alfred Publishing.

It's a great opportunity to work on some of your alternate fingerings (namely, Fork F# and Long Bb) and so perhaps watch the side profile moments in slow motion to get an idea of when they can be used to good effect. Do try and incorporate them into your playing - your technique will thank you for it in the long term!
