There is usually a phrase written on it intended to catch the attention of your oshi. (Things like, "Look here", "Show me your smile" etc)

(1:13) Nui pics (nuidori/ぬい撮り) = Taking your plushies outside with you and taking pictures of them. Google ぬい撮り for examples (it's very cute)
