Volkswagen Ignition - Vintage VW Training Film

Learn how to adjust ignition timing in your vintage air-cooled Volkswagen beetle, bus, or type 3. This video explains the basics of the four-stroke engine and how to make adjustments to the points and distributor for maximum power and efficiency.

This is a VW factory training film strip from 1972 that was presumably sent to dealerships to train their mechanics. Originally this would have been played on a standalone kiosk-type cabinet with a projector screen and record player built-in. The record plays a tone which would somehow automatically advance to the next slide in the filmstrip.

We purchased some of these old filmstrips and records from an eBay auction years ago, and set them up with a standard projector and record player in order to capture the series on video. They were uploaded to an old YouTube channel back when videos uploaded had to be ten minutes or less, so they had to be cut into two parts in most cases.

I have re-ripped the video in higher quality and kept them intact so they don't have to be split up anymore. Please enjoy! We don't want these lost to time and the filmstrips were already deteriorating when we got a hold of them.
