US President Bill Clinton shook hands on Thursday (30/11) with
Gerry Adams, the president of Sinn Fein, the IRA's political wing,
when the two met in a Catholic stronghold in Belfast. Clinton,
paying the first visit to Northern Ireland by a serving US
president, was riding up Belfast's Falls Road and left his car to
greet Adams in a pre-arranged meeting. The Sinn Fein leader was
inside a cafe with other members of his party.
