Sortganzing Postcards (into folios with Dymo labels)

I wonder if you would like to come sit with me in the kura while I pull out stacks of postcards and organize into folios? I hope so

While I chitchat, I select and flip records from France and Vietnam and wrangle some big Santa sacks of mail organized with the tender grace that each dispatch deserves

Sortganizing – sometimes chronologically, sometimes by sender (for extra prolific correspondents) other times into "special collections" of a sort as they don't fit inside the folio or belong with another existing set

Either way, they go into "cheap and cheerful"folios allowing me to see the front and reserve, then delineated by a label made from a Dymo machine (ya know spin spin click spin spin click squeeze, ka-chunk – then try to peel that back bit off it's always tricky)

There are many dozen cards and letters explored throughout process and while I try to maintain a sense of privacy and anonymity, there's possibly one or two from you – I hope so

Overall, I'm so grateful for beloved correspondents with special folders for "gentleman Byzantium Bill", poet Jason in Gifu, and SAC who specializes in remixing Richard Brautigan book covers and signs her letters "mayonnaise" which I misspell with the Dymo label

Anyway, I talk about the postcards, who sent each treasure with few thoughts about each image and message ~ whilst the camera goes in-and-out of focus as it finds scissors and letter openers in a curry can in the foreground, or maybe my poorly shaved face in the mid, or maybe my fetching Indonesian batik shirt – doesn't make much sense at all, maybe I'll figure it out one of these days
