पश्चिम बंगाल में ऐसी घटनाएँ हो रही हैं जो यह प्रमाणित करने के लिए काफ़ी हैं कि राज्य में देश कालकानून नहीं चलता। मुख्यमंत्री खुद प्रवर्तन निदेशालय की छापामारी के दौरान पुलिस बल लेकर पहुँचती हैं और जाँच एजेंसी से ज़ब्त की हुई फाइल लेकर चली जाती हैं। हालाँकि केंद्रीय जाँच एजेंसी के काम में बाधा पहुँचाने का उनका यह पहला मामला नहीं है। पश्चिम बंगाल एकमात्र ऐसा राज्य है जहां जाँच एजेंसी के अधिकारी सुरक्षित नहीं हैं । उन्हें गिरफ़्तारी से बचने के लिए अदालत की शरण में जाना पड़ता है। राज्य प्रशासन किसी जाँच को आगे नहीं बढ़ने ही नहीं देता। जहां गुंडे पुलिस और क़ानून पर हावी हैं। इसीलिए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पश्चिम बंगाल कीलकानून व्यवस्था को महा जंगल राज कहा। जैसे जैसे चुनाव क़रीब आ रहा है ममता के विकल्प घटते जा रहे हैं ।

They have to approach the court to avoid arrest. The state administration does not allow any investigation to proceed. Where goons dominate the police and law. That is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the law and order system of West Bengal as Maha Jungle Raj. As the elections are approaching, Mamata's options are decreasing.
